Why cant i back up games on my external hard drive from usb loader gx?

ok i have a 1 terabite hdd its a passport. i try to back up super smash brothers from the disk and when i try to install it says theres problems that my drive is formatted to ntfs and there might be a writing problem. I have no idea what to do can someone help me? also theres only an option to format it to exfat or NTFS i tried using wbfs manager 2.5 and it didnt work.
